2021 Undead Acres Review

Undead Acres
3450 W Crete-Monee Rd
Monee, IL 60449

Visibility / Location:

Parking lot is brightly lit off Monee road, and is very easy to spot considering there isn't much else in the area except farmland. Parking is ample and on gravel.

Wait Entertainment:

Undead Acres resembles what one might expect a rural outpost during the zombie apocalypse might look like: a wide open area with fire pits, a goat pen (spend a few quarters to feed Petunia and Lily), a shooting range and axe throwing, and seating protected by wooden spikes and zombie heads. There's also a concession stand and a little merchandise hut, and a few costumed actors stalking the free range crowd.

$26 for the zombie hunt, plus $7 for extra ammo. $7 for the shooting range, $5 for axe throwing, and a $42 combo package. The Haunted Trail is not open in 2021.

Event Length:

After purchasing tickets, guests must sign in at the hunt host and wait for their party to be called similar to how one waits for a table at a busy restaurant. Wait times depend on how crowded it is (peak times can mean a sizable wait, ours was 2 hours. An estimate on wait times can be found near the event entrance so you can decide before paying). In the meantime, guests can socialize, have snacks, or try the axe and shooting range. The zombie hunt itself is 10 minutes long.

Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR Score = 0.921

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of

Scare Factor:

Crowd Control:

For the hunt itself, guests are loaded onto an open air trailer pulled by a tractor, and are seated the entire length.

Undead Acres is a more a fun, unique October activity than a traditional "haunted house"; if you're looking for something different than the usual good scare, it's a great option. The wait for your turn out in the zombie killing fields is great for socializing with friends not unlike the atmosphere of a country bonfire, and it's fun to imagine yourself in such a setting (honestly it's one of my favorite parts of this event). When your party is called, guests are sat on a bench on the trailer in front of their own paintball guns mounted on the trailer railing, and taken out to a dark orchard to five staging areas to shoot (heavily armored) actors trying to overtake the truck. The staff enthusiastically contribute to the atmosphere of 'fun in the zombie apocalypse', giving the whole experience extra depth. Good for all ages (I even saw a few babies).
