2021 Necrosis Haunted House Review

Necrosis Haunted House
1315 Enterprise Dr
Rantoul, IL 61866

Visibility / Location:

The GPS had a bit of trouble with the location since there are a couple of roads close together. Fortunately both lead to the front of the house. There was no sign on the main road and only a fairly small sign on the house itself. The front of the house had red wash lighting which suggested that it was the correct location. There are several close parking areas. Two are head-in parking directly in front of the building or the one next door. There is also a lot across the street for larger crowds.

Wait Entertainment:

The waiting area is outdoors with only a narrow overhang in the event of rain. In the event of weather visitors should dress appropriately. During the wait Modern dark themed rock music is playing. There was also a couple of actors that walked down the line. They were willing to pose for pictures.

There is no cost for parking.

Event Length:

The waiting line was 30 minutes. There was a sign with the rules but no other rules briefing and no introduction area. Once you reach the front of the line you enter the haunt. There were no obvious checkpoints in the haunt. The total time for the haunt was 14 minutes

Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR Score = 2.813

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of

Scare Factor:

The scare factor was high. It featured startle scares, noise, some gore, large animatronics and a couple of unique scares. There are no crawls or squeeze areas.

Crowd Control:

The groups were spaced by time for entry into the haunt. Generally the spacing was very good however someone in the group ahead of us became very scared and refused to continue so we had to pass them. Groups behind did not catch up with us. I noticed the group that exited next did not contain the frightened patron so she may have exited somewhere in the middle.

The house itself is fairly unassuming with just a couple of skeleton guards at the door. They were using Covid restrictions so masking is required. Groups are not combined no matter how small. There does not seem to be a single identifiable theme to the haunt and this might be its one weakness but it does seem to be limited to only a few themes, so that it does not feel like every area is separate. Once you enter the house you immediately can see the amount of detail that goes into the set pieces. Rooms are carefully decorated and staged. There is just enough lighting in most areas to allow patrons to appreciate the scene. One area featured extensive use of candles which both provided a beautiful background and enough light to see the hard work. Actors were well hidden in dark corners and appeared suddenly. The haunt made good use of chain link fencing to give patrons a feeling of dread and claustrophobia. There was no throw away space in the house. Each area included details that were worth seeing. Be careful you are not too distracted by the set because that is when the actors attack. Necrosis has a couple of unique scares that I had not seen in other haunts. They also featured a couple of large professional quality animatronics that were very impressive. This is a quality haunt that is deserving of its reputation.
