Visibility / Location:
Ravens Grin Inn is in a small town at a dead end off the main road. Little signage but GPS leads you to the front of the house.
On our tour day there was no line entertainment, but this location is not in need of this as the house is covered in artwork and keeps you busy taking it all in.

Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.
LPR Score = 26.412
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
We were in a group of 12. We had no run in of any other group while on the tour.
Raven's Grin Inn is far from a "normal haunted house." Raven's Grin Inn is truly a one of a kind house. It is owned by a man who lives in it night and day- Jim Warfield. I've been here a few times before, and I can say that each time the HOUSE and Jim has never let me down. Every time you enter, you'll hear the stories of the house- it's past, it's "ghost hauntings,"etc. No matter how many times I've been here, I always feel like I find something new that I never saw before in past visits. Jim and his wife are always so kind and welcoming to everyone.
The opening scene to the house is a unique, one of a kind experience (that changes for each group I'm told, depending on how the crowd reacts). Jim never fails to get a few scares in this room, by using simple tactics that you least expect as you are so wrapped up in his story telling. After the opening scene, you are brought into the kitchen (where Jim continues his story telling- with more simple, yet effective thrills). Beware! Don't touch too much or you might lose a finger!
As you progress through the house, every angle will make you laugh, jump, or just generally keep you guessing what will happen next. On the top floors of the house, you'll see some unusual sites. You'll feel like you've been admitted into a psych ward, that will suddenly end with a fast crash into the cellar. From the cellar, you'll no longer feel like you are even in a house. Now you're winding through caves that lead you to the ghosts outside. At one point, you'll find yourself in the back of a hearse!
Jim never fails to amaze with his story telling and ability to transport you into another world. And the House... well the house only let's you see what it wants you to see. All 12 people in my group saw different things- even though we all took the same tour, on the same day, at the same time. Each one of us had an amazing time and took something different away from the experience.
This must see house is a place you want to stop and check out in October, November or even July! After all, they are open all year round!
