Visibility / Location:
Google Maps takes you right to the mall where this haunt is located. There was a pop-up carnival in the parking lot making the haunt hard to spot. There were no signs from the road to show the haunt was there. There is plenty of on-site parking.
The wait area is dark but decorated in a lot of horror items. There is loud rock music playing and TV shows past patrons getting scared. There was a creepy girl asking patrons to pet her "cat." As you wait in line to get your tickets, you get to see everyone get chased out. I highly recommend purchasing tickets online, which automatically upgrade you with a fast pass, as the wait times can be long and it's a little warm/stuffy in there.
$15 ($13 if you bring in a non-perishable food item)
Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.
LPR Score = 4.106
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Crowd control was good, we never ran into any other groups or even heard them. We went through at our own pace. There were some obstacles through a couple scenes, whether it was props or a moving floor, but it was pretty smooth flowing.
Definitely purchase tickets online so you get the free fast pass upgrade. We were the only group in the fast pass line and got in pretty quick however, they put us with three kids (about 10 years old) and I would've much rather it just been my own group. The waiting area tends to get pretty warm and stuffy. Once you enter the haunt, you watch a short video with the haunt rules and then a door unlocks and you're free to make your way through.
Some of the scenes were very creative and detailed like the forest and the swamp-like scenes. They really took time and care into building an amazing haunt. There were lots of strobe lights, darkness, moving floors, and fog but we were still able to easily navigate our way through. A few scenes had some prop obstacles to go around but it wasn't bad.
The characters did good with their jump scares or directing you the wrong way. They have you crawling through fridges and fireplaces. Night Terrors makes the best use of sheets and gauze I've ever seen.
The most memorable part(s) of the haunt are the smells. Oh, the smells. Every scene had a different smell. The bathroom smelled like diarrhea, the swamp area smelled like musty water and then there was the kitchen. My husband was the leader of the group and the "cook" asked if he wanted to try her secret sauce, he leaned in and the spoon hit him in the nose. He said whatever it is, was wet and smelled like refried beans and feces. It was stuck in his nose til we got home an hour and a half later!! They had some hanging props that felt like severed bushy animal tails and every one that smacked you in the face, gave a horrid smell. Their smell game is on point!! They did a great job making a lasting impression!
