Visibility / Location:
Google Maps took us directly to the haunt. It's located inside the old West Richland Elementary School, which seems to be in a town in the middle of nowhere. There are no signs outside the haunt to easily identify this as a haunted house. There were some lighted inflatables outside of the entrance. A sign at the entrance to the parking lot would've helped a lot. It was pretty dark back where the school is which also made it a little hard to see.
Once inside the school, you watched a video with a skeleton telling you all the rules. They had some shirts for sale. You exited the haunt through the same doors you enter, so we got to see so many people come running and screaming out, which really affected some of the patron's waiting.
Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.
LPR Score = 2.453
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
The staff did a great job at keeping the groups separated. The next group didn't enter until the previous group came out. They also let more than one group in together if they wanted, which was nice since there were a few lone couples.
I was skeptical when we arrived at the school. I really thought I was coming to a haunted house filled with middle-school aged kids as the actors and it was going to be a let down. I was wrong.
They had several holiday scenes. Scary Santa's and psycho Easter Bunny's are always creepy! Mirrors were used to throw you off your path and they were placed perfectly. Having an irrational fear of snakes, I really cringed walking through a hallway covered with rubber snakes on the wall, hanging from the ceiling and even all over the floor! All of the actors were so well hidden, some in plain sight but they blended in so well that they really scared the crap out of you. There were small kids inside lockers that freaked us all out.
This was the first haunt I've been to that started indoors and led you outside and then back inside, very cool! While outside, we were first chased by a clown and then came a man in a pig mask with a chainsaw. As we were getting away from him and turned a corner to go back inside, we looked behind us and were being chased by a man in a wheelchair! The chainsaw psycho scared a girl so bad she pushed past all of us and ran out the exit.
This haunt relied on classic jump scares and it really paid off for them!
