Visibility / Location:
This event was a bit of a challenge to find. My GPS took me to 4700 Peoria Road, instead of 4700 North Peoria Road (I probably typed it in wrong). As it turns out, there was another hayride there, too (Carter's Hayride)! So after learning of my mistake, I promptly got in the car and traveled less than one mile, across the river, to the correct location in Riverside Park. Once I arrived, there was an illuminated sign on the side of the road, as well as many parking attendants, to lead you in the right direction.
Various costumed characters were roaming around, interacting with customers waiting in line. There was also a food truck so customers could grab a bite to eat while they waited, as well as several bonfires to help keep people warm. Loud rock music played in the waiting area, as additional entertainment. This is a very popular event, so I highly suggest getting there early, so your wait is minimized.

Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.
LPR Score = 2.273
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Since both attractions were on hayracks, this category doesn't apply.
The hayride consisted of various outdoor structures and scenes, with numerous themes. Customers were pulled behind a hearse in two linked hay wagons. To add to the atmosphere, red lights glowed beneath and inside the hearse, as it rolled down the road. The brief ride to and from the hayride route was fast and exhilarating, to say the least! Once we arrived at the wooded path, there were scenes of dismemberment, an electrocution, a creature escape from a cage and more. The most visually appealing area featured an array of dozens of lit Jack-O-Lanterns sitting on tiered rows of shelves. In nearly every scene, actors seemed to appear from nowhere and attack the hay wagons, many times even jumping up on the sides, within inches of riders.
The zombie paintball attraction featured a tall trailer with two stories of bench seating, complete with paintball guns attached to rails. After a short safety briefing and test of the paintball guns, we moved on to the main trail. This event followed a similar path as the haunted hayride; however, the experience was much different. As we rolled past the scenes, blacklight arrays attached to the top of the trailer illuminated the entire scenes and also the zombies, who relentlessly shambled towards the trailer when we came to a stop. As the zombies moved closer, everyone shot their paintball guns in a dizzying array of glowing streaks and splatters, when the balls hit their targets. After each zombie was hit dozens of times, they dropped to the ground and the trailer continued to the next area.
I had a great time at the Extreme Haunted Hayride and Zombie Paintball event in Riverside Park! Because of the interactive nature of the event, the zombie paintball was easily my favorite. Both events are family-friendly and a lot of fun. I highly recommend checking this one out, if you get the chance!
