Downs Haunted House
107 East Franklin Street
Downs, IL 61736

Visibility / Location:

There were plenty of signs and arrows all around town that made this haunt very easy to find. There were lots of lights and music that made it really accessible.

Wait Entertainment:

The wait for my group with speed passes was less that 10 minutes but the regular line was averaging about an hour. There was music playing while you wait. There were concessions and merchandise at the local park where tickets were sold. There were a lot of fun and scary actors working the crowd that got everyone into the spirit of the haunt before entering.

Admission:

$7 regular pass $12 Speed Pass

Parking:

Free

Event Length:

5 Minutes

Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR:

LPR Score = 2.857

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.

Scare Factor:

Medium

Crowd Control:

The actors at this haunt seemed very experienced in crowd control. They kept us spaced perfectly and we didn't bump into any of the other groups.

Summary:

This haunt was fun. We didn't have tickets so we had to walk 2 blocks to the park where the tickets were sold. At the park, there were concessions, bathrooms, merchandise, and hot food, as well as baked goods. There were spooky hayrack rides to and from the haunt. We chose to take the ride back to the haunt and we rode slowly and silently through the local graveyard. It was creepy, fun, and one of those perfect fall activities you rarely get at haunts anymore. Once we entered the haunt itself, the sets were really well done. The scares are placed really well for maximum effect and the actors are very good at what they do. This is a fun, albeit quick haunt. It would be a good place to see if your kids are ready to hit one of the bigger haunts. If they can hold on for the 5 minutes here at Downs, they can handle the longer, more intense haunts. It is a great place to start. I would definitely return next year.
