2016 Night Terrors Of Effingham Review

Night Terrors Of Effingham
Village Square Mall

Visibility / Location:

Google Maps was very accurate getting us to Night Terrors of Effingham. It's located in the middle of Village Square Mall and there is plenty of parking near the entrance. There weren't any signs on the road for the haunt and the banner on the mall was a little hard to read from the road.

Wait Entertainment:

While standing in line, they played some awesome hard rock music that fit perfectly with the atmosphere. They had a lot of creepy decor in the windows. While you wait, there is a vampire walking around scaring people. There was also a creepy woman dressed kind of like the Red Queen that was pretty creepy.

Crowd Control:

The groups seemed to get sent through at a pretty good rate. We were sent in with 2 other people and after the first 30 seconds, we never even saw them again, let alone another group.

When we pulled into the mall parking lot, I had very low hopes for this place. The mall seemed like it belonged in a ghost town. We weren't really sure where to enter to get to the haunt. There was a door below the banner but everyone was walking in the main doors at the mall, so we did the same. The haunt is just to the left of the mall entrance. I really like the music they played, it really added to the atmosphere.

When we got to enter, we had to watch a short rules video. It was pretty dark at first and you had to feel your way through, which is always scary. There was quite a bid of bloody cloth we had to walk through and it did get a little confusing as to where we were supposed to go, but we eventually found our way. The characters were all very convincing and scary. There was a room we entered that looked like church pews with sitting bodies all covered in white sheets. We knew at least one had to be a real person so we were pretty freaked out trying to figure out which one was going to jump out at us. That room definitely gave me the heebie jeebies! There was also a really good zombie room, they never touched us but they got close enough to make us think they were going to grab us and have us for dinner. It ends with a clown maze and one actually got right behind me and blew on my neck, scared the crap out of me!

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this "mall haunt" was. This is another one that doesn't delve into all the animatronics and they do a darn good job of scaring that pants off of you.
