2018 Chicago Zombie March
This Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 will mark the 11th anniversary of the Chicago Zombie March.
The Chicago Zombie March is an annual gathering of like-minded folks who dress and make themselves to look like reanimated corpses. This free and fun event is open to all persons and all ages.
Hundreds of people are expected to assemble at the Cloud Gate sculpture in Millennium Park at about 2pm. The tentative path for the group will leave the park heading North on Michigan Avenue over the Chicago River and will take it's first break at Pioneer Court directly across from the Tribune Tower. The group will then cross over Michigan Avenue to the Wrigley Building and back across the DuSable Bridge. Heading West on Upper Wacker Drive until reaching State Street. The group will then make their way South down State Street and then West on Randolph St. for one block and go down Dearborn heading South.
The group will take a second break for group pictures, staged photos and other photo ops at the Richard J. Daley Center Plaza. The final leg of the trip will take the group East along Washington Street back to Millennium Park and will break after reaching The Cloud Gate sculpture.
Participants of this event range from fans of "The Walking Dead", professional haunt actors, families, and just anyone who simply likes to dress up as a zombie. The organizers have even asked local artists to provide their talents to others that do not have the materials to do the makeup themselves donations for services are accepted.

The zombies keep to themselves but will stop and take photos with the general public if requested. Photographers not only from Chicagoland but around the nation have known to stop in for this event. In the past, they have worked with non-for-profit organizations who identify with this subculture. In 2014 they had a march after-party benefiting ZomBetes, A zombie-themed group to create awareness and raise money for juvenile diabetes.

David Lasley has been doing Special Effects Makeup in 2005 and started his haunt career as an actor in 2000. He has worked in states such as Virginia, Michigan, Indiana and of course Illinois. David has recently held a position for the past 7 seasons as Head of Makeup and Costume Manager for an Indiana haunt, and this season will be a featured character for Thirteenth Floor Haunted House in Melrose Park. David's talents and personal skills dig deep from the big top to the renaissance (faire).
Colleen Jones has been a special effects makeup artist for a decade. Her talents took her to multiple haunted house attractions In Illinois as a SFX artist and as an actress,. She has also been on set for some independent films and a vendor at many local horror / Halloween related events, such as conventions and fests held throughout the year. She has taught beginner makeup classes at Chicago Bodypaint and Cosplay. Colleen's love for zombie / trauma makeup was the reason why she decided help create the Chicago Zombie March. She is currently working on a team for an upcoming vampire-themed convention called VampCon which will be held in Rosemont, IL in the month of September of 2019.
In the beginning David had handpicked Colleen as the makeup lead of the event until the original team had all dropped out As a last standing creator and team member of the Chicago Zombie March, both David and Colleen have enjoyed putting on this event year after year, and take great pride in seeing old and new faces having a great time.
