2017 Shock House Review

Shock House
Qcca Expo Center
2621 4th Avenue
Rock Island, IL 61201

Visibility / Location:

Google Maps takes you right there. There are also billboards along the way giving directions. It's located at the QCCA Expo Center so there is plenty of parking available.

Wait Entertainment:

We bought VIP tickets so we could skip the line. We had a very short wait time but there was a casket at the front of the line that a girl climbed into so her friend could take a picture. I didn't see any actors entertaining the crowd in that small window of time.

Admission:

$15 for regular admission
$20 for VIP

Parking:

Free

Event Length:

10 Minutes

LPR:

LPR Score = 2.333

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.

Scare Factor:

Low-Medium

Crowd Control:

Crowd control was fine. I had an actor stop me from moving forward as another actor took my place and followed my group. When my actor let me go I ended up following the actor who was following my group. He eventually just turned around without attempting to scare my group but he didn't expect me to be right there so I'm pretty sure I scared him. Ha! Other than that, we didn't see or hear any other groups.

Summary:

We pulled into the parking lot of the QCCA Expo Center and easily found a parking space near the doors. We entered the building and purchased VIP tickets so we could skip the line. One of the ticket booth workers walked us up to the front of the line. We were given 3D glasses and told to go in. We went through a few rooms with our blurry glasses on and then saw a sign on the wall instructing us to drop them into the hole in the wall. There were a lot actors smacking the walls to try to scare you. There were a lot of drop down panels in the wall that the actors would pop out of and yell. There was a spinning tunnel, a lot of stringy things hanging from the ceiling, a few pitch black areas, two different sections of the black air bag walls, a black cat room, ect.

This one didn't really impress me. There were many rooms that didn't have live actors. There were times where I noticed an actor was right behind me so I was waiting for them to yell or smack the wall to try to scare me but nothing happened. They just walked away. I don't scare easily so sneaking up behind me in a haunted house, where I'm expecting that sort of thing, and then just wandering off never to return again does noting without the extra effort to get that scare in. My 12 y/o got a couple of jumps out of the drop panels but that's also something that I was expecting as soon as I saw them. I felt like it was very predictable. They had quite the wait line though so maybe my group missed something.
