Visibility / Location:
This haunt is located in the basement of St. Thecla church, which is easily noticeable from the road. Also, there is a large sign on the corner advertising the haunted house, and the crowds line up facing the street, so you will know you are there if you see a long line waiting to get in.
There was no real wait entertainment to speak of on the night I visited, but there are sometimes actors that pop out from the entrance of the haunt to scare the people in line.

LPR Score = 2.692
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Crowd control is good, although sometimes a bit slow, and the wait in between groups can be longer than it might need to be. Overall, though, patron flow is good and you rarely run into someone in front of you.
Hair Razor is a local community haunted house that consists of a variety of individual scenes rather than one specific theme. Each room is decorated in a different style, and the styles change from year to year. This year's new rooms included an entire hotel setup where visitors checked in with a disinterested hotel clerk and were taken to room 13 where a surprise awaited them, along with an expanded opening scene featuring an auto accident.
In between visitors can encounter rooms full of living mannequins, a schoolroom with a hidden surprise, jungles, spider rooms, and even a giant gorilla - how many haunts can say that?
The actors in each scene are younger, mostly elementary school age, and makeup and costuming can sometimes be minimal, but overall the actors are good and enthusiastic in their acting. While many prefer the jump scares, others do play the creepy silent types or even the silent types that follow visitors from room to room.
For sheer variety, Hair Razor is an excellent haunt. There are at least 20 different scenes, and both the beginning and ending are large and elaborate, with the former featuring an outdoor scene created indoors, complete with full-size automobile, and the latter featuring a detailed living room set with moving walls and hidden surprises.
While the scares are not intense, they can be surprising, and some of the actors are cleverly hidden in plain view, particularly in the mannequin room and the school room.
Hair Razor is great for families and for younger kids as well. There is a small concession setup in front of the haunt with popcorn, candy, and drinks as well.
One recommendation is to arrive early, as the haunt does get crowded and the lines can move slowly. A fast pass is an excellent option as it usually gets you directly to the front of the line. Sundays are also a good choice as the crowds are smaller, but the best bet is to arrive before they open.
