Visibility / Location:
They did pretty well in this category. The bright lights of the farm could be seen in the distance and they had a Fear Fest sign at the entrance. GPS took us right there, but you could miss the turn if you aren't looking carefully. Some additional lighting right at the entrance would make it more visible.
While we were there, I saw a couple of actors interacting with patrons. They also had a fire pit in a central location, to help keep people warm between attractions.

Crowd control was good. We never ran into any other groups in either the Haunted Barn or the Fun House.
The waiting room walls were adorned with small horror movie posters and creepy pictures, to help set the mood. With authentic weathered wood panels, the structure itself was really creepy. Upon entering the haunted barn, we walked into a really cool laser light show inside the towering grain silo. Similar effects were used effectively in various places throughout the barn. Other places like the strobe light checkerboard room had some dizzying visual effects. Spongy floors and tilted hallways were encountered a few times, which kept our group off balance.
Several scenes throughout the barn included a mine shaft, doll room, torture rack, open casket funeral and more. The doll room was creepiest, but my personal favorite was the open casket scene. This was very well done. Just when we thought nothing was going to happen, there was a great scare. I don't want to post a spoiler, but I will say that I've never seen a casket scare executed quite like that before.
This haunted house had some of the darkest hallways I have ever seen (or not seen. Haha!). This definitely added to the creep factor of the event. As we walked through, the resident ghouls playfully taunted us, which also added to the fun.
This haunted hayride featured a tractor-pulled hay wagon with comfortable rows of hay bales to sit on.
There were simple scenes set up at regular intervals along the path. Some of the themes included a carnival funhouse, phone booth, old country shack, chapel and a graveyard. At a couple of points along the way, there were some great flame effects, which surprised everyone in our group. There was another great effect that I won't mention, because I don't want to ruin it for everyone else. Let's just say that it made even the bravest soul's teeth chatter.
We were pulled along slowly enough so that ghouls were able to board the hay wagon... and they did several times. They seemed to come out of nowhere hopping on and off the hay wagon, and clinging to the sideboards. After intimidating everyone, they would disappear into the darkness.
While it had a slightly lower scare factor than the other attractions, this haunted hayride was definitely very fun and entertaining.
The fun house was the most interactive and immersive of the three attractions at Fear Fest.
As the name implies, the scenes within all followed a carnival theme. Some of the more memorable areas were the fortune teller, upside down house, carnival midway, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and an alien autopsy.
The actors in the various scenes were very interactive and their performances were rock-solid. They were not only talking with guests walking through, but inviting them to sit down and participate in various activities like a tarot card reading and a trivia game where we had to guess the names of various horror icons.
As we walked through the different scenes, there were unexpected scares all along the way.
Being true to its name, this attraction was a LOT of fun! It was also my favorite of the three. Kudos to the actors for their grand performances.
Set up as a family-friendly attraction, Fear Fest is a great place to spend an evening. There are some great scares and it is a very entertaining experience. I highly recommend you check this one out!
