Visibility / Location:
Google Maps were accurate in their directions to R Acres of Terror. Parking was right on site and there was plenty of it. There are flashing lights and a hearse parked near the road, which made finding it very easy.
We were a little early to arrive and they had no music or wait entertainment. We could hear the sound effects inside the woods for the haunt. When we came out of wood, we still didn't hear any music or see any type of entertainment.

We were the first of the night to go through the haunt and therefore, didn't run into any other groups. We were able to go through at our own pace pretty smoothly.
When you pull up to this haunt, you see a nice log cabin home and a large grassy parking area. I wasn't really sure what to expect because the wooded area didn't really look that big. The first couple minutes walking into the woods were very slow. We kept looking and waiting for something or someone to pop out or chase us and nothing happened. We actually had to start this haunt twice. The signal that the actors were ready was supposed to be two gun shots and apparently not all the actors were aware of this and we were told to start over because they weren't in place. Even the second time, we still walked for quite a ways with nothing happening.
The dullness didn't last long. Actors were popping up all over, out of nowhere and had us jumping pretty good. They were all very convincing and surprising. I'm still not sure how they got a live girl to look as though she was completely gutted and her body ripped away, badass visual effect for sure. We each did a triple look trying to figure her out!
Then the 3D clown house. If I had a clown phobia, I probably would've had a nervous breakdown. They were awesome and very in-your-face, we loved it! Probably one of the best clown scares I've been through.
After a lengthy walk through a corn trail and being stalked by Michael Myers and a crazy old man with a shot gun, it was over. It seemed like some of the scares were sparse and seemed to get a little dull with nothing happening for long periods of time. Even with that being said, it was still a pretty good haunt. This is also the 3rd or 4th haunt I've been through with a bridge to walk over and no one has used an actor under the bridge to scare people. Something like this would've added to the scare factor, more than once, at this haunt. This one definitely has the potential to be one of the top haunts in Central Illinois. Can't wait to see what they do next year!
